Its clean, all-in-one design features a unique isolated enclosure system that includes two custom designed wide-range speakers and a tuned, ported bass system, minimising vibration while maximising sound quality and allowing users to listen to their favourite music as it was intended with amazing sound clarity and rich, deep bass. iPod Hi-Fi features handles to easily transport your stereo anywhere, a removable front grille with precision-mounting clips, touch-sensitive volume control buttons, the Apple Remote for easy song and volume control from anywhere in the room, a universal power supply incorporated into the all-in-one design so there’s no bulky power brick to weigh it down, and the ability to power iPod Hi-Fi from six D-cell batteries for true portability. Featuring seamless integration with all iPods with a dock connector, iPod Hi-Fi automatically recharges your iPod while docked and displays features of iPod that maximise the iPod Hi-Fi experience such as Tone Control, Large Album Art mode and volume mirroring.* iPod Hi-Fi includes a dual-purpose 3.5-mm auxiliary input that accepts either analogue or digital signals for easy connection to a wide range of audio sources. iPod Hi-Fi is compact and can be powered by AC or six D-cell batteries, providing more flexibility than any traditional home stereo and is perfect for use not only at home, but just about anywhere you go without compromising sound quality. *Tone Control and Large Album Art features available with iPod nano and fifth generation iPod. Apple today also announced new luxurious leather cases designed specifically for the fifth generation iPod and iPod nano models. The Leather Case for iPod is made with fine, hand-crafted Italian leather and features a soft and durable interior lining for a secure fit, making it the perfect carrying case for iPod or iPod nano. Pricing & availability iPod Hi-Fi includes the Apple Remote, a removable grille, an AC power cord and 10 Universal Dock adapters, and is available for ВЈ249 (inc. VAT). The Leather Case for iPod is available in 30GB and 60GB models as well as an iPod nano model, each for ВЈ69 (inc. VAT). iPod Hi-Fi and all models of the Leather Case for iPod are available through the Apple Store (http://www.apple.com/ukstore), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorised Resellers. Like a badly photoshopped piece of work. I don't believe the recent iPod is nearly as bad as some people thinks, and consider it very competitive with anything out there (I'll save the blah blah for this thread http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=68627). However, aesthetic aside (never been the reason I backed the iPod), Apple is sure talking big here. And I will say that I am slightly skeptical. Frankly speaking, I've not heard Sony talk big like that, but Bose on the other hand.... Oh well. I am skeptical, but then again, I don't consider myself a speaker person. I've heard some 20+ k systems since I have a cousin who sells those things, but I've never looked them up much (won't bother with something I can't afford).QuotePosted by Bob Crabtree - Wed 1st Mar 2006, 7:46pmThe issue I have with this product is different from everyone else's here. What gets to me is the way that Apple dumps on companies that make hardware (or software) that piggybacks on its products. Okay, a bit more explanation is required - and I'll start with Apple Final Cut, the program that, in effect, pushed Adobe (one of Apple's strongest supporters) out of the video editing market on Macs. A nice way to thank your friends? I don't think so. And, what I see with a product like iPod Hi-Fi (and the "luxurious leather cases" for fifth-generation iPod and iPod nanos) is Apple saying to itself, "Hang on, why are these companies making money that we could earn?" - totally forgetting that it absolutely DOES need these third-party companies to help grow the sales of its prime products, be they Mac computers or iPods or anything else.QuotePosted by DavidM - Thu 2nd Mar 2006, 9:29amVery interesting point Bob.QuotePosted by nichomach - Thu 2nd Mar 2006, 9:38amIt is; I wonder whether it's simply that Apple are so confident that, for instance, when anyone thinks of a digital audio player they'll think "iPod" first, that they feel that they no longer need 3rd party products to grow support for them.QuotePosted by Lee @ SCAN - Thu 2nd Mar 2006, 5:19pmLOL @ http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=30018 Quote Make no mistake, the same gullible saps who think an iPod is cool will rush out and snap up these useless things and push up the level of credit card debt around the world to new heights. Because the battery-powered cereal packet with a couple of tiny speakers in it carries an Apple logo, they'll fondly imagine it sounds great, but as they'll only be listening to James Blunt and Coldplay anyway, who cares? Wow..straight to the point, no beating about the bush is there.QuoteReply Other Useful Links :: Discuss in the HEXUS.net Forums :: HEXUS.net Homepage :: More Multimedia Hardware Items Other Related Content:: Hauppauge adds Freesat USB2 satellite tuner to range:: Thin Speaker, Small iPod, BIG Sound! :: The Falcon MVIX Media Centre Copyright © 1998 - 2008, HEXUS.net.
